Sesame balls (Bánh ram)
Sesame ball or orange cake is a type of Vietnamese cake with a thin crust made of glutinous rice flour, ordinary rice flour, possibly mashed potatoes, fried until golden brown, and filled with green beans and coconut milk (sesame ball) or pork, vermicelli, fungus, Dried onions, peppers (salty donuts).
But its origins come from jiandui (Chinese: fried pile; pinyin: jiānduī; Cantonese: jīndēui; pinyin: see doi), a Chinese fried pastry made from glutinous rice flour. This pastry is coated with sesame seeds and is crispy and chewy. There is a large cavity inside the pastry, which is caused by the expansion of the dough. The filling consists of lotus seed flour or sweet black bean flour or less commonly red bean flour.
This kind of cake is very easy to find. If you go to Vietnam on your own, you must try it.
