Notre Dame Cathedral is modeled after Notre Dame de Paris, France. The foundation was laid on October 7, 1877 and completed in 1880. It was designed by French architect J. Bourad. The Romanesque and Gothic styles blended with each other. It is 93 meters long, 35 meters wide and has a vaulted ceiling. Up to 21 meters high.

In 1895, two additional bell towers were built in the Notre Dame Cathedral, each 57.6 meters high and equipped with six bronze bells, with a total weight of 28.85 tons. The facade of the cathedral is located on Dong Khoi Road, one of the oldest and liveliest streets in Saigon.

It is durable for home use, does not grow moss, does not stain, and does not fade over time. The wall is 65 centimeters thick and has the function of protecting the tomb. Biblical characters or events are one of the unique features of the church.

Applicable to the establishment of the Archdiocese of Vietnam on November 24, 1960, Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral was upgraded to the Royal Palace of Saints and is one of the two churches to receive this commemoration. Since then, its official name is Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral Palace, but local residents are accustomed to calling it Notre Dame Cathedral.

Today, Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral has become one of the landmark buildings in Ho Chi Minh City, not only a chapel for Catholics but also a tourist attraction.
