Vietnam’s new e-visa policy facilitates group travel and MICE travel

30/04/2024

Vietnam’s e-visa policy, which will take effect on August 15, 2023, will not only provide convenience for tourists visiting Vietnam, but will also help promote the connection between Vietnam and the international tourism market. In particular, the validity period of the electronic visa has been extended from 30 days to 90 days, allowing unlimited entry and exit into Vietnam, which provides convenience for tourists traveling in groups and exhibitions.

Electronic visas not only extend tourists’ stay, but also promote the digitalization of the tourism industry. This will help travel agencies improve their competitiveness and create attractions for domestic and foreign markets, making it easier for tourists to purchase travel routes and find travel itinerary information.

Tour guides in Ho Chi Minh City said that since the new e-visa policy came into effect, the number of group tour tourists looking for Vietnam travel itineraries and destinations has increased significantly compared with the past. Various travel companies and travel agencies work together to introduce the provisions of the e-visa policy to partners and tourists, which will help stimulate domestic and foreign travel demand. With the new e-visa policy, Vietnam’s tourism industry has taken a new step in integrating with the tourism industry of global and regional countries, opening up more business opportunities for the business community.

For example, the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam and the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City recently announced the issuance of e-visas to Vietnamese tourist groups starting from November 2023. They are suitable for short-term stays, single-entry tourism purposes within 15 days, and will only be issued to those residing in Vietnam. Vietnamese passport holders.

From a business perspective, Chung Thuy Chu, sales director of Vietnam Tourism Media Joint Stock Company, believes that the new e-visa policy makes it easier to apply for group visas and can attract more tourists. This shows positive signs of strengthening cooperation between travel agencies in Vietnam and Japan and other countries and regions in attracting tourists.

Vu Dinh Tuan, foreign tourism manager of the Saigon Tourism Corporation, revealed that the company is expected to provide services to 21,755 tourist groups from 143 overseas convention and exhibition tourism groups by the end of this year. MICE tourism groups are mainly concentrated in destinations such as South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Beijing-Shanghai, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom and Spain. (over)
