The opening ceremony of the 2023 Hue Festival and the reenactment of the launch ceremony of the Nguyen Dynasty’s new calendar were held in Thua Thien-Hue Province

On January 1, the Thua Thien-Hue Provincial People’s Committee held the opening ceremony of the 2023 Hue Festival with the theme of “Cultural Heritage: Integration and Development” and the Nguyen Dynasty New Day Awarding Ceremony (Lễ Ban Sóc) in front of the Meridian Gate of the Imperial City of Hue Activity.

According to reports, the 2023 Hue Festival includes more than 50 main activities and nearly 100 response activities. It will be held continuously according to the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter. The themes are divided into "Spring in the Ancient Capital", "Shining Castle" and "Autumn in Hue" and "Winter in Hue."

The 2023 Hue Festival will be held in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of Hue’s ancient capital ruins being listed as a World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, the 20th anniversary of Hue Palace Music being listed on the Representative List of Human Intangible Culture, and Hue Traditional Crafts Week. .

At the opening of the 2023 Hue Festival, the Hue Ancient Capital Heritage Conservation Center staged a dramatic reenactment of the Nguyen Dynasty calendar release ceremony.

The Vietnamese Nguyen Dynasty calendar release ceremony is held at the end of the lunar calendar every year. Its initiator is also the famous emperor of the Nguyen Dynasty - Minh Ming Emperor.
