Thang Long Water Puppet Theater, Hanoi

Thang Long Puppet Theater is a non-profit unit under the Hanoi City Department of Culture and Sports. It has the function of performing puppet art (land puppets and water puppets); collecting, preserving and promoting the value of Thang Long-Hanoi traditional puppet art.

The main tasks of Thang Long Puppet Theater are as follows:

1. Submit the theater development plan, long-term and annual operation plan to the director of the Hanoi City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and organize their implementation after approval;

2. Establish a puppet theater project in Thang Long-Hanoi to ensure national and modern characteristics; organize performances to serve the people of the capital, domestic compatriots and foreign audiences, and improve the cultural, spiritual and aesthetic living standards of the audience.

3. Collect, preserve and promote the artistic value of traditional puppetry; create and experiment with different types of puppetry; summarize experience, improve the level of composition and performing arts, and contribute to the development of Thang Long Puppetry in Hanoi.

4. According to the cooperation plan of the Hanoi City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, organize international performances and exchange activities, actively exchange and introduce Thang Long-Hanoi Puppet Show; learn, exchange and selectively absorb the essence of world puppet art.

5. Unite and coordinate domestic and foreign units to organize puppet art programs and large-scale art programs to serve domestic and foreign audiences.

6. Coordinate training; organize training to improve the professional qualifications of actors and theater staff;

7. Organize income-generating service activities according to the theater’s functions and tasks.

8. Manage the organizational structure, wages and personnel; implement systems and policies for actors, officials and employees under the management of the theater in accordance with national regulations and the decentralization of powers of the Municipal Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Hanoi.

9. Manage and use houses, land, finances, assets, appropriations and other sources of income in accordance with the law.
